Plague locust racing into Gawler

Lague locust have now arrived in and around Gawler.

The lush green grass at the recently renovated Gawler racecourse came under attack last week. Through speedy intervention UrbanVirons Group were able to contain the damage quickly. It is amazing though how quickly hopper numbers can build-up, and how quickly an area can be denuded.

The spray program was a success. Damage was limited.

Staff responsible for the racetrack will be keeping a close eye on wind patterns and direction, particularly from the north, that can carry down fresh swarms and be ready to act as required.

A report just in that Hewett Primary School in Gawler has also been affected has been confirmed. UrbanVirons will be treating this infestation immediately.
